There, however, lacks sufficient information regarding other costly considerations you should make when shopping for window tinting. Having decided that your car requires window tinting, you should think beyond the color of tint and how long the window tint will take to cure completely before you can roll down your windows.
For starters, did you know that almost every jurisdiction has some law regarding window tinting? Auto window tinting is not specifically prohibited in many jurisdictions. Some jurisdictions dictate the percentage of tint allowed while others simply prohibit certain colors or shades. Before getting auto window tinting, you should check how your jurisdiction regulates window tinting and avoid a future trip to the tinting stop for tint removal right after installation. Beyond legal requirements, you should also carefully think about the following components of auto window tinting.
Percentage rating
Contrary to what you may think, the percentage value indicated on auto window tint films does not indicate how dark the tint is. It indicates how much light passes through the tint and, therefore, how bright the tint is. Tint indicated as 50%, therefore, allows fifty percent of outside light into your car, while tint indicated 5% only allows five percent of light through. The higher the percentage, the more the light can pass through and, therefore, the brighter. You should be careful when buying low percentage tints. They can drastically reduce visibility when driving at night.
Electronics friendly nature
Many people experience interference with radio and even mobile signals within the car after installing certain tint types. To reinforce strength, some companies manufacture tint film that has minute metallic components suspended within the lattice. The tints are strong. The suspended metals, however, considerably cause interference with different electronic signals. Mobile services particularly diminish in cars with such tints.
There is auto window tinting that uses plastic for structural strength instead. These do not cause interference with electronics. When installing auto window tints, you should note the constituent components of the tint film and their respective percentages. This information can help you determine the degree of interference to expect. Less metallic components would mean less interference while more would indicate more interference.
Warranty
Some tint manufacturers offer warranties on their products. Others don't. Warranties are a good way of identifying the good window tinting films. Warranties, however, do not solely determine the life of your tinting. Poorly installed or maintained window tinting can easily come off as well.
